The Two Contrary States of the Human Soul # 1

Installation

'When voices of children are heard on the green,
And laughing is heard on the hill,
My heart is at rest within my breast,
   And everything else is still.
‘Then come home, my children, the sun is gone down,
   And the dews of night arise;
Come, come, leave off play, and let us away,
Till the morning appears in the skies.’

William Blake (1789)

'Earth raised up her head
From the darkness dread and drear,
Her light fled,
Stony, dread,
And her locks covered with grey despair'

William Blake (1794)

BOUNCY BALL INSTALLATION

Having 250 Bouncy Balls delivered by the PostPerson is ever so exciting. Closing the door and upturning the bag that they arrived in is even more exciting.
Pocket-money buys that you spent ages chosing over; although always disappointing because once the chosen one was plucked from the crowd, it didn't look as appealing on its own.
They'd never last for long. If you made it home without losing it to a passing car or rolling down the hill, it would find it's inevitable home under the sofa where it would collect dust until the living room was rearranged, or the sofa was pulled out to hoover (if it hadn't already been taken off you for bouncing it inside and smashing a vase…)

Sometimes you have to look at the advantages of being a 'grown-up'. If you wish, ice-cream can be had for breakfast. If you want to stay up all night… you can! And if you don't want to choose just ONE bouncy ball… YOU CAN BUY A WHOLE SHOPSWORTH!
